The best flat-water SUP spot in the Pre-Pyrenees

Most people learn stand-up paddleboarding at the coast — and fall off constantly because of the waves. At La Llosa del Cavall there are no waves, no currents and no motorised boats. The reservoir surface is as flat as a mirror, which means you spend far more time standing than swimming.

Our boards are wide, inflatable-style touring SUPs — stable and forgiving. Whether it's your first time or you're an experienced paddler looking for a peaceful session surrounded by mountain scenery, this is the spot.

The perfect SUP conditions

🌊
No waves
A reservoir has no ocean swell. The surface is flat year-round, making it far easier to learn and stay standing than at the coast.
🏔️
Mountain scenery
Paddle with views of the Port del Comte and the Mola de Lord. A backdrop you won't find at any beach.
🧘
Yoga SUP
Flat water means the board barely moves — perfect for SUP yoga, stretching sessions or simply standing and meditating.

Beginners welcome

Questions about paddle surf

Do I need experience?
Not at all. The flat, currentless water of the reservoir is ideal for learning. We give a quick introduction before you head out and within a few minutes most people are standing comfortably.
What happens if I fall in?
Falling in is part of the fun — especially on a hot summer's day! The board is attached to your ankle by a leash so it won't drift away, and a life jacket is mandatory. The water is calm and shallow near the rental area.
Is paddle surf suitable for children?
Yes, from around 7–8 years old. Younger children can also enjoy kneeling on the board. Life jackets in children's sizes are available. For very young children the family kayak might be a safer choice.
What's the difference between paddle surf and kayaking?
In paddle surf you stand (or kneel) on a board and use a single-bladed paddle. In a kayak you sit inside the hull and use a double-bladed paddle. SUP gives you more of a workout (especially for the core) and a different — higher — perspective on the scenery.
